The PlugFest provides an opportunity for EtherNet/IP product vendors to test their product against a suite of interoperability tests with a number of other product and infrastructure vendors. The goal of the PlugFest is to provide feedback to the developer in regards to possible interoperability problems before they are discovered in the field. Any information discovered during PlugFest is to be used only by the participating companies for purposes of improving their own products. Devices are first tested against a predefined test configuration and test procedure (EtherNet/IP Interoperability Test Procedures PUB95). Testing concludes with interoperability testing in a full multi-vendor system configuration.
Registration to PlugFest is by product. One attendee must be registered for each product registered. Two attendees may be registered for each product (up to four attendees in all). No observers will be allowed. It is highly recommended that only product developers attend the PlugFest. Members of ODVA receive a 50% discount on registration.
Devices allowed at the PlugFest include EtherNet/IP devices, infrastructure devices, and test tools. All devices must have a valid EDS file and must have passed a self-administered protocol conformance test at the most current version of the EtherNet/IP Protocol Conformance Test Software Tool. All companies registered must have a valid EtherNet/IP Vendor ID. ODVA suggests that vendors bring two samples of any tested device to allow tests to be run in parallel.
You may choose to have your product take part in the Interoperability Advisory Test. Upon successfully completing the Interoperability Advisory Test at the PlugFest, a product’s Declaration of Conformity is eligible to be revised to indicate the product has passed the advisory test for EtherNet/IP interoperability. Devices must pass the Interoperability Advisory Test and the ODVA conformance test at the same product revision level in order to be eligible. Devices that do not have a valid Declaration of Conformance may use the Interoperability Advisory Test results if the same device revision passes the ODVA Conformance Test at a TSP within 6 months following the PlugFest. The EtherNet/IP Interoperability Advisory Test will consist of testing products for compliance to the following recommendations:
